Today, Tuesday 3 April, the last act of the Louis Vuitton Cup will be getting underway. One of the participants is the Desafío Español team, of which Rudy Project is the official sunglasses supplier. After its major successes in the Louis Vuitton Acts, the Spanish team has once again proved that its choice of top-level Rudy Project glasses was a winning one.
For the Spanish team in their fourth challenge at the America’s Cup after the 1992, 1995 and 1999 Louis Vuitton Cups, Rudy Project has produced the special ImpactX photocromic polarized lenses.
These photocromic lenses manage to control light intensity during the whole day, adapting the colour automatically to changes in light intensity.
The polarization, however, eliminates the annoying glare caused by water reflection, avoids tiring the eyes and increases contrast and depth perception.
At the same time, the special polarization formula developed by Rudy Project’s R&D department means that reading onboard instruments is no problem.
These highly technological lenses take advantage of NXT®, patented, transparent and unbreakable material that assures a high level of protection, reliability, performance and high durability in comparison to polycarbonate.
The images show the Rydon and Ekynox Sx models customized with the colours of the Spanish Team and fitted with ImpactX lenses. Below are the models available in the collection.
